We believe in Change

JAMAA Grands Lacs is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2016 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Since its inception, the organization has worked tirelessly to promote peace, transformational leadership and the economic recovery of marginalized strata in the DRC and Africa.

In a Great Lakes region marked by decades of war, violent conflict and collective trauma, JAMAA Grands Lacs is committed to sowing seeds of hope where despair and suffering seem to dominate. Through our actions, we seek to restore human dignity, strengthen the social fabric and offer concrete solutions to the socio-economic challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

What we do?

At JAMAA Grands Lacs, we are deeply committed to addressing the urgent needs and challenges faced by vulnerable communities in regions of conflict. Our actions are geared towards building a more peaceful, equitable and sustainable future. Here are just a few of our initiatives:
Support for women victims of sexual violence
We offer psychosocial and health support to women survivors of sexual violence in conflict zones. Our approach aims to provide them with the care and support they need to recover physically and emotionally, while restoring their hope and dignity.
Creating spaces for dialogue and peace
We facilitate spaces for mediation and negotiation to promote peaceful solutions in conflict contexts. Our efforts focus on reconciliation and non-violent dispute resolution, promoting inclusive and constructive dialogue between all stakeholders.
Training and support for young leaders
We train and support young leaders of change, giving them the tools and skills they need to initiate collaborative actions with a visible and measurable social impact. These young people are then networked to foster synergy and multiply positive effects in their communities.
Creating an innovation ecosystem for peace and democracy
We support social and technological innovation in the service of peace and democracy, encouraging innovative solutions that strengthen governance, transparency and citizen participation in development processes.
Support for women displaced by war
We support women displaced by armed conflict by offering them opportunities to develop sustainable economic activities. The aim is to enable them to guarantee their financial autonomy and provide for their families in a context of crisis.
Support for community environmental initiatives
We support community initiatives to protect the environment and combat global warming. Our actions promote ecological awareness and the implementation of concrete projects to preserve natural resources while improving the quality of life of local populations.
Library for all
We have opened a library accessible to all, a space for knowledge where residents can find educational and cultural resources. It offers books, training and workshops to broaden horizons, strengthen skills and promote peace and dialogue within the community. Thanks to this place, we strengthen access to information and support the culture of peace and intercultural dialogue through education.
Search
We conduct in-depth research into the social, economic and political issues facing the Great Lakes region. These studies aim to better understand the causes of conflict, the dynamics of reconciliation and the factors of sustainable development, in order to feed our interventions and positively influence public policy.
Advocacy
We conduct advocacy actions to defend the rights of marginalized populations and promote peace, justice and democracy. By engaging in dialogue with decision-makers, international institutions and civil society, we seek to influence public policy and raise awareness of the importance of inclusive and equitable solutions for sustainable development in Africa.
